Por iniciativa del profesor titular de Derecho Ambiental de la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Dr. Miguel Patiño Posse, Ph.D., se ha creado el Instituto de Diálogo Ambiental, cuyo propósito es establecer bajo el auspicio del Centro Internacional de Derecho Ambiental Comparado de la Universidad de Limoges, Francia, CIDCE-CRIDEAU, un diálogo interdisciplinario en Colombia entre la sociedad, la academia, el gobierno y el sector productivo en favor de la protección y conservación de la naturaleza, con el fin de hacer frente a los estragos que la depredación ambiental y el modelo consumista de desarrollo están causando a la civilización, cuyas más graves consecuencias se esperan hacia el año 2030. Con él se persigue crear una cultura jurídica que permita a Colombia cumplir los compromisos sobre cambio climático adquiridos en la Cumbre COP 21 realizada en París en 2015.

Bogotá, COL – As of November 15, Fundación Río Urbano grew one staff member larger. The FRU team welcomes Stephanie Davidson, a student from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as Global Data Intern until December 20, 2016.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA, Stephanie brings her expertise in natural resources management, risk analysis, global policy, and community organization to both Fundación Río Urbano and the greater Bogotá community. With the completion of this internship in December 2016, Stephanie will also complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Securities, with two minors in Spanish and Environmental studies and a certificate in Latin American & Caribbean studies.

Trump’s Cabinet Will Throw Us Into Environmental Catastrophe

The facts are clear. President-Elect Trump’s Cabinet nominees represent a targeted and well-thought out assault on America’s environmental protections. The President-Elect is stacking his leadership with not only the fossil fuel industry’s closest allies, but the actual CEO of ExxonMobil. At least two of his nominees have publicly commented on the overreach of the very agencies they have been selected to run, and all of them have, at some point in their careers, undermined efforts to address climate change, put public health at risk, and attempted to weaken United States’ clean air and water regulations. Indeed, the nominations of Rick Perry, Scott Pruitt, Rex Tillerson, and Ryan Zinke mark the transformation of our democracy to corporate oligarchy, and put the entire planet at risk of climate catastrophe.
